On the 21st of March Stress in Action colleagues dr. Annelieke Roest, Nan Zhao and prof. dr. Harold Snieder organised a symposium ‘Stress in Action and cardiovascular disease’ at 2025 Annual meeting of the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine (SBSM).
The symposium was chaired by dr. Annelieke Roest. PhD student Nan Zhao presented his work and umbrella review on ‘Childhood adversity and cardiometabolic disease’. Prof. dr. Harold Snieder presented ‘Sedentary lifestyle and exposure to stress exacerbate polygenic risk in hypertension: Insights from the Lifelines Cohort Study.’ And prof. dr. Kenneth Freedland (Washington University, St Louis), presented on ‘Social determinants of Health in Heart Failure’.
The symposium was a great success. There was a high turnout of interested people. Moreover, many questions were asked and great discussions were held.
The SBSM (formerly known as American Psychosomatic Society) 2025 annual meeting took place in Seattle, Washington, USA form the 19th of March to the 22nd of March 2025.
