Matthijs Noordzij is Full Professor of Health Psychology and Technology at the University of Twente. His research integrates psychophysiology, daily-life stress science, passive sensing, and value-driven innovation to understand how physiological and behavioural signals captured by wearable technology can reveal meaningful patterns in stress and recovery. He studies how these insights can be translated into technologies that genuinely support health monitoring and self-management in clinical and real-world contexts. As core investigator in the Stress in Action Gravitation programme, he focuses on developing tools that are scientifically robust, clinically useful, and aligned with human values, especially compassion.
